Katina
O’Neil has a Degree in Anthropology from the University of
British Columbia; a Mastery Degree in Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki; and is
a Mesa Carrier in the Inka Shamanic Tradition. I’ve taught
Reiki, Energy Medicine, Teachings of the Medicine Wheel and
Shamanism for the past fourteen years. Having studied with Medicine
People of both North and South America and initiated into their
Sacred Rites, I offer a unique understanding of how to live as
Beings of Light during these challenging times. My website
gives a comprehensive
outline of my background and work.
In
my quest for a greater understanding of life’s purpose, I studied
ancient cultures and the impact of indigenous beliefs on cultural
development. While at the University of British Columbia, I
received my degree in Anthropology and continued with my
post-graduate work in the American Southwest working in the field as
an Archaeologist.
In
continuing this quest, I moved on to the study of Energy Medicine
and became a Reiki Master in the Usui System of Natural Healing.
The pathway of powerful initiations inherent in the field of Reiki
became a doorway for me into the typically unseen realm of Pure
Universal Potential - the domain of Quantum Theory - the Zero Point
Field - and the study of Self-Created Reality.
I
was very fortunate to receive Medicine Wheel training with a
uniquely gifted Lakota Medicine Woman, whose teachings gave me a
very practical experience and understanding of the cyclic
interrelated order of life and a unique opportunity to explore my
own place in this order – specifically, how one heals oneself by
coming into balanced relationship with all life and to honor the
sacredness of life.
Part of this belief in the interrelated order of life can be found
in a prophecy, held by the medicine peoples of both North and South
America, that one day the Eagle of the North and the Condor of the
South will fly wing-tip to wing-tip. My ongoing studies have
immersed me in the path of the Shaman. I have studied with the
Foundation for Shamanic Studies, The Four Winds Society, Jose Luis
Herrera and indigenous Shamans of Peru and have been initiated into
their medicine ways; the way of the “Seer” - the way of the
“Mystic”. Through my travels to Peru and personal experiences
in its energetic pathways, I have been able to further map the
landscape of who we are as spirit beings on our respective journeys
through the human experience.
This knowledge and wisdom, derived from a deep passion for
understanding who and what we really are and how awareness empowers
us to live our lives fully, is what I offer my clients and students.
I have taught now for over fifteen years, in Canada and in the
United States. I teach the Inka Medicine Wheel to people
starting out on the shamanic path as well as Mastery Classes for
students wanting to refine their skills. The combination of my
specialized training and unique life experiences show me that we are
all amazing beings of pure light energy with unlimited potential.
This is what I want to share with you. For more information, please

LAURA WITTER
I began my journey
with an interest in herbalism, which led to a self-study on the
subject. This grew to taking coursework in herbalism and from there
I really became interested in other alternative healing modalities.
I learned and practiced Healing Touch (developed by Dolores
Krieger), and was initiated in Usui Reiki. In 1998 I began studying
the Shamanic path with the Four Winds Society and Alberto Villoldo,
completing the Healing the Light Body School. When I moved to
Washington State, I discovered that José Luis Herrera, also an Inka
shamanic teacher, was teaching in that area. I took classes with him
in Washington, and had the marvelous opportunity to spend a
wonderful weekend with Don Manuel Quispe, the then leader of the
Q’ero Inka from the Sacred Valley in Peru.
I have been a practicing ARNP since 1997, and currently I am also a
practicing massage therapist. Still fascinated with all the
alternative healing modalities, I am now studying Craniosacral
therapy with the Milne Institute, and I plan to complete
certification within the next couple of years. I am also learning
and practicing Soaring Crane Qigong.
I bring knowledge of the Inka path to my work, and years of working
in a structured environment as an ARNP.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Institute of
Shamanic Wisdom, Inc.,
(ISW) is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) multi-disciplined charitable
and educational organization located in San Diego County, founded by
Dr. Liana Carbón.
Our mission is to:
-
Protect and promote
indigenous earth-honoring wisdom and ceremonial healing
practices through cross-cultural experiences.
- Teach the
mythic reality of First Nations worldwide based on their
creation stories, legends, ceremonies, art, music, dance, song
and other traditional forms of cultural identity.
-
Teach
cross-cultural shamanism and other complementary healing
modalities through practitioner apprenticeships and teacher
certification programs that nurture sacred community worldwide.
-
Honor, protect and
support the medicine people of indigenous cultures.
-
Provide solutions
for personal and global transformation and healing.
OUR
PURPOSE
The ISW offers
private healing sessions, ongoing instructive and experiential
programs, such as seminars and apprenticeships, group and individual
retreats, journeys to sacred sites, ceremonial opportunities and
learning to anyone interested. We also invite other teachers who
share our vision to provide lectures, workshops and articles.
We help you
Learn, Dream and Heal by addressing the body,
mind, emotional and spiritual needs you may have. We offer a safe
haven for your own healing, a helping hand to get you started, and
integration and follow-up to provide the support you need on your
path.
ISW LEARNING EVENTS
are thematically focused experiential workshops, apprenticeships and
retreats that bring together teachers and participants in
communities around the world. Whenever possible, we strive to
provide opportunities for participants to learn directly with
indigenous leaders about traditional healing systems for the
individual and the community, the ancient sacred ways, and about
sacred sites.
Our
spiritual JOURNEYS
and retreats
focus on participants moving to a conscious, spiritual path and
developing a balanced relationship with Mother Nature and the
environment. In visiting indigenous communities, sacred places, and
working directly on the land, we learn about their core systems and
cosmology.
The Institute’s
shamanic and spiritual
healing provides the opportunity for the client to
transform old patterns and wounding events through the practice of
shamanic visualization, meditation, movement, journeying, ceremony
and through contemplation in nature.
We
invite you to explore our web site, and to join our
mailing list
for more information.

CHARITABLE
ASSISTANCE
The extraordinary devastation in 2005 and 2006, not
only of Hurricane Katrina but also of the earthquakes and volcanoes
erupting across the globe, creates in all of us compassion and the
desire to be of assistance. We may feel at a loss as to how we can
be of help. Please know that all of the Institute’s workshops,
classes, retreats, journeys and online course work include a
charitable component.
We
donate a portion of the
profits of each program to the Red
Cross or other humanitarian organization
so that our work together can be a part of necessary
ongoing relief and recovery
effort. Especially set up to aid indigenous cultures,
The Kumari Wara Foundation, an adjunct of the Institute,
helps indigenous cultures reclaim their patrimony by helping the
medicine people preserve and teach their ways; aids the
underpriviledged families in remote villages; offers healing
assistance to those in need in devastated regions; and provides
donations and physical help to protect
ancestral sacred
sites, natural landscapes and tribal lands.
In addition, the Institute of Shamanic Wisdom, Inc.,
supports the Minka Foundation, a non-profit organization created by
José Luis Herrera, a Cuzco-born shaman and teacher. The Minka
Foundation provides books, toys, clothing and food at Christmas time
to children in the most remote villages of Peru. These
children rarely have shoes or warm clothing, and most have never
seen a white person before. For additional information on this
organization, please visit
